London, England, October 23, 2009 – The revolutionary game of SIM rugby is taking England by storm to such an extent that pubs are losing business as regulars prefer to play this game than shell out cash for stale beer.

We are talking about the latest craze that’s more popular than football, cricket or rounders.

What is SIM rugby? Ye old rugby game but with a SIM card instead of the oval pigskin. Players say they love it so much that on sleepless nights, they spend time counting SIMs rather than sheep.

The game calls for special teamwork, more so when a player drops the SIM because then everyone in the team has to help find it. The best thing about SIM rugby is that it is a free flowing game with fewer injuries as it is less physical, the most serious injuries being cuts in your fingers.

Robert “Bob” Babbington was inspired to invent the game while biting into a piece of toast. As World President and Global Guardian-in-Chief of the United World-Wide Intra-Continental SIM Rugby Federation (or WPGGCUWWICSRF for short) Bob shares some insights about this thrilling sport: “SIM Rugby is like antimatter – everybody knows it’s there and it’s just a matter of time before it takes us all over and burns us from the inside.”

He believes that classic rugby, with the inflated pigskin ball, can be improved, just like everything else. The latest version can take rugby to newer parts of the world not even imagined by classic rugby.

How it all started: One fine day in 2008, as Bob was nibbling at his breakfast he noticed the piece of toast he had bitten into looked somewhat like a SIM card in shape. He couldn’t but wonder at the marvellous engineering that went into the making of the real card. The same day he took his SIM card to the game of regular rugby that he was playing. As Bob and a couple of friends were waiting for the game to start, they just tossed his SIM card around. It flew like a Frisbee-cum-spaceship-cum-kingfisher through the air. Like a flash, the three teammates knew that that was it; they had stumbled onto something sensationally big.

SIM rugby is all about passing it on and Bob already has some passes to share: The Billy Pass, the Cheese Pass, the Frisbee Pass and the Giraffe Pass. You can learn how to make these passes by looking them up on the game’s website given below.

Caveat: This game is addictive. Take Bob, for instance. He’s so passionate about SIM rugby, it takes priority over everything else, including his wife.

Right now England are the reigning world champions of SIM rugby. Things could change as soon as another country takes up the game.

The burgeoning popularity of SIM rugby has seen O2, the mobile phone company, fight and win the right to be the official sponsors of the England national SIM rugby team.
